Hiking gear rankings
Shells, mid layers, base layers and footwear for a full day out.

Footwear
How the hiking rankings work
Each garment is judged mainly on the job its layer does: base layers on breathability, mid layers on warmth and outer layers on waterproofing. Every layer is ranked in three price ranges, so you can start from the budget you have.
Footwear is judged the same way, by type: hiking boots on traction and hiking shoes on traction. Each type has its own price ranges.
